The Question: I’m on social media for my business and I’ve been posting consistently to all my platforms, but I’m not seeing results. What’s the deal? HELP!

The answer: When you don’t feel like your social media is working, it’s time to take a step back and figure out why. Take a deep breath and stop worrying.

There’s a reason, so I’m going to give you some tips that will help you find out why. Once you have a why, it’s easy to make changes accordingly and test.

The following elements will help to guide your social media in the right direction:

  1. Setting a goal
  2. Creating a strategy to reach the goal
  3. Implementation

When things aren’t working correctly, you need to go back and explore each element to make sure everything is interconnected and mutually supported at each stage.

I’m going to give you a handful of questions. Take a deep dive into each Q to really examine what’s working well and what could be fixed. In addition to checking stats, do a gut check to truly see if your social media is in alignment with your business and you.

Here are a few primary questions to explore:

Is your SM in alignment with your goal?

First of all, you need to make sure you’ve set a social media goal. If you’re new to social media marketing, I always recommend you set only ONE attainable goal (learn how to set your goal here). If you set more than one, I find it’s harder to get organized and follow through. Also, you’re more likely to crash and burn from trying to do too much.

If you don’t have a goal, you can’t know whether or not your social media efforts are successful. Begin by setting ONE goal.

Do you know your Perfect Client?

Another very important element to social media success is ensuring you are reaching the right people. In other words: Does your content appeal to your Perfect Client and is it reaching them? If you don’t absolutely know who you are targeting, your social media efforts will fall flat. It’ll be too much trial and error and therefore wasted time.

Is your implementation in alignment with your goal?

How you implement your social media needs to directly lead to your goal. Here’s a hot tip for implementation: Start with your goal and work backwards. If your goal is to sign on a client per week, map out how you’ll be there on social media.

Answer those three questions above, but most importantly, take ACTION. Adjust your social media accordingly. Then test. Repeat if necessary. You WILL GET THIS!
